I was recently diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic, it runs in my family. Unfortunately, I’ve been removed from my family’s insurance plan and they won’t pay for the insulin, or the doctor’s appointment/tests that diagnosed the diabetes.
I have 30 days to pay for the appointments, which I’ve already partially paid for out of savings.
My insulin, which I need two vials of per month, costs 45 USD a month. I’ve already dipped into my savings and used all the graduation money I’ve gotten so far, but still need money to buy for the next six months (I am a broke ass college student).
If you could, any amount of money you could send would help. You can either send by money order (message me for address) or through PayPal. Even a dollar helps. Thanks in advance, and please boost this. :(
Apparently he didn’t make it home last night, and he’s missing.
If if you live in Philadelphia and see or hear anything from him or about him, please contact 267-252-4447 or 856-577-4719.

does anyone in the DC area want to do intersectional-beheadings and me a big favor and look at an apartment for us? because everyone is like DON’T RENT AN APARTMENT WITHOUT VIEWING IT but like, also, neither of us is in DC, so.
it will be like a scavenger hunt but your prize is you reduce my anxiety about moving
I will pay you back metro fare and like compensate you for your time in some way, I’m not sure what’s appropriate but I can buy you a big cake or draw you a picture or give you an apartment-scouting hourly wage or something.
ETA: intersectional-beheadings has kindly reminded me that I can also MAKE YOU YOUR VERY OWN BOOBS as compensation for apartment-scoutage if this is something you want or need

URGENT ALERT: In Alabama, teachers are forced by law to lie to their students and say that being gay is a criminal offence. We have a chance right now to end this terrible law.
Lesbian, gay, bi, and questioning youth in Alabama are being fed this false information that hurts their mental and physical health, and makes it more likely they’ll be bullied or worse.
Alabama lawmakers now have in front of them a new bill to strike this anti-gay section from the law, but there’s only a few weeks before this session is over. If they don’t feel the pressure from the public and the media, this bill will languish in committee and we won’t have another chance before 2014.Tell the tell Alabama lawmakers to pass the “Hate Doesn’t Belong in the Classroom” bill (HB 496) before the next class of students graduates. Sign and share now!
We’re almost there, just some more signatures
John and Rachel found these little guys outside by a boat ramp and they are in bad condition. One was already dead when we found them and the rest are scary thin. They all have eye infections and one has a messed up tail. We’re doing what we can for now but it’s likely they will need vet attention which I can’t afford (we already have a $10,000+ vet bill for my dog) so I added a donation button if anyone wants to help out a bit. Also if anyone in central florida is looking for a kitten let me know bc they are ready for adoption as soon as they’re cleaned up and feeling better.

Imagine the federal government holding conversations about your privacy - except yours is the only voice not at the table. This is what people with psychiatric disabilities are facing as the House Energy & Commerce Oversight Subcommittee takes up the issue of mental health and privacy rights under HIPAA.
Rep. Tim Murphy, Chair of the House Energy & Commerce Oversight Subcommittee, is holding a hearing this Friday to try and argue that the HIPAA protections that protect the privacy of people seeking mental health services are unnecessary and a threat to public safety. Regrettably, Chairman Murphy has a history of threatening the rights of Americans with psychiatric disabilities. This Friday’s hearing is a continuation of a roundtable Rep. Murphy organized last month to try and showcase the inaccurate idea that people with psychiatric disabilities are more likely to commit violent crimes. Although empirical evidence shows no such link between psychiatric disabilities and violence, the roundtable made no acknowledgement of this simple fact. Furthermore, of all of the many witnesses called to testify, not a single person with a psychiatric disability was invited to share their perspective.
When a caller on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal program asked Rep. Murphy to explain his rationale for excluding the voices of people with psychiatric disabilities from the witness panel, he dismissed the need for the voices of people with disabilities themselves, claiming they would be incapable of testifying and that the most important conversation is one about parents and families’ experiences!
There is a time and a place for discussing improvements to the availability and quality of mental health services. A conversation about violent crime is not that time nor that place. It is inexcusable for public officials to use public safety as justification for an attack on the civil rights of an already marginalized and stigmatized population. Tell Chairman Murphy and Ranking Member DeGette of the House Energy & Commerce Oversight Subcommittee that the disability rights principle of “Nothing About Us, Without Us!” apply in mental health policy too. Don’t let our voices be forgotten.

THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION!
Greeting card turns children’s “Muslim” doll into “Terrorist” doll
The card features a photo of a Muslim doll with a Hijab (headscarf) that many Muslim women wear out of religious observance. The The talking bubbles placed on top of the doll’s photo read, “The Talking Doll, Pull string for message, if you dare,” and “She’ll Love You To Death! She’ll Blow Your Brains Out!” The inside of the card reads “Hope your birthday is a BLOW OUT!”
The card is produced by NobleWorks Inc. with credit for its design given to “Ron Kanfi” according to the company’s website, www.nobleworkcards.com. The motto of the company printed under their logo on the back of the card is “modern cards for modern people.”
Notice that nothing identifies this doll as a terrorist in the minds of the card designers other than that she wears a Hijab. Moreover, she – like many Muslim girl who choose to wear the Hijab – is a smiling, non-threatening normal-looking female wearing a pink Hijab and a flower-patterned dress. The unmistakable message behind the “humor” is that even the most peaceful looking Muslims are synonymous and exchangeable with terrorists.
To make matters more disturbing, the card is based on an actual doll designed by Desi Doll Company (www.desidollcompany.com) called “Aamina, the Muslim Doll.” The doll teaches kids religious greetings and sayings in Arabic with messages like “Assalamu Alaikum is the Muslim greeting, and it means peace be upon you” and “Let’s play together insha’Allah, insha’Allah means if God wills it.”
Contact the makers of the greetings card and let them know that you do NOT think that stereotyping Muslim women and girls is OK. Ask them if they would get a chuckle out of their daughters growing up exposed to messaging that criminalizes their basic identity for profit. (CAIR-Chicago has written an official letter to the company sharing its concerns.)
As always, be firm and polite.

This is beyond just stereotyping, this is Islamaphobia and racism. Portraying Muslim women as terrorists isn’t a stereotype because there’s no basis whatsoever for this “stereotype”. This is pure propaganda and hate speech.
when we wear the hijab we are visibly muslim which means every last islamaphobe out there sees a target. this stupid card encourages and validates something that puts muslim women and girls in danger.
Hey.
So this is a movie about transgender people, that has (from the images) at least 4/5 of the main people as TPoC (and 3/5 are Black).
Let’s boost the fuck out of this and see if we can’t get them the money for this doc.
The “Assigned Sex” Documentary Project:
- Identifies problems within the transgender community
- Develops awareness and empathy for individuals that don’t conform to the male/female gender binary
- Takes action to end discrimination against those that vary from culturally defined gender roles
- Identifies support resources for transgender individuals that are located within New York City
